Overview
Energy efficiency and conservation reduces total carbon produced each year; however, it does not necessarily reduce intensity (pounds/MWh).
We set a goal of implementing all cost-effective energy efficiency and conservation measures. We offer
electric rebate programs, our
Solar Partnership Program, and provide
conservation tips.
Renewable Energy Procurement
We set aggressive goals to attain 20% renewable energy by 2010 and no less than 33% by 2020 and acquire power from less carbon intensive resources. We are making investment in Lodi #2, state-of-the-art combined cycle gas generation with in-service date of 2013. We are exploring and implementing carbon offset strategies. We are investigating and will implement cost effective technologies to offset GHG emissions in electricity generation.
The
Greenhouse Gas Emissions report explains what we are doing to ensure reliable and affordable electric services to you while being environmentally responsible.
Over the next 10 years Azusa will be reducing dependence on low-priced coal-powered electricity and moving toward higher priced natural gas and renewable resources. In order to achieve the required GHG reductions by 2020, Azusa’s retail rate is expected to increase by 26% above CPI during the same period.
